“It’s good to have a friend who is as enthusiastic about home cooking as you are; Valerie Hemingway, is that friend for me. We live a few blocks apart and trade back and forth all kinds of goodies. Earlier this week, when I dropped off a ramekin of chicken liver pâté (and bonus jar of the remaining livers she could use for risotto), she sent me home with orange marmalade and chokecherry jam.”
