Fall is here!

Fall is here! And it is a perfect time to reconnect with harvest and where your food comes from. Got kids? As you know, they are curious! Let them guide you to selecting new veggies at your farmers market or grocery. If you get them involved in selecting and preparing their veggies, they are more likely to try them when they arrive at the dinner table!

While we’re on the topic of harvest, Fall is a great time of year to refocus your efforts towards eating with the seasons and eating what is local and, preferably, organic. Keep the “Dirty Dozen” in mind and minimize your exposure to pesticides by eating organic :

The Dirty Dozen

  1. peaches
  2. apples
  3. bell peppers
  4. celery
  5. nectarines
  6. strawberries
  7. cherries
  8. pears
  9. imported grapes
  10. spinach
  11. lettuce
  12. potatoes

This list was originally compiled by the Environmental Working Group. There’s a handy-dandy wallet guide available at their website.
